Whitfield Shows Beverly Pride During Paris Recording

Soul and R&B star Barrence Whitfield was showing his North Shore pride this week during a recording session in Paris.

Whitfield, a Beverly resident, recorded “I’m Sad About It” at the OUI-FM studios in Paris, France. In a video of the acoustic recording session posted to the video website DailyMotion, Whitfield is wearing a sweatshirt with the logo for Waters and Brown.

Waters and Brown is a paint and decorating store with a location on Elliott Street in Beverly and also a location in Salem.

Whitfield played earlier this year during the city’s second-ever “The Block” block party in downtown Beverly. He rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s with “Barrence Whitfield and the Savages.” Earlier this year, he released his first new album in 18 years, “Dig Thy Savage Soul,” which includes “I’m Sad About It.”
