Five things to know - a great way to start the day with a quick look at the events and happenings in the city.

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily source for community events, happenings in the city and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

1. Rain: It looks like Tuesday could be the low point, weatherwise, this week. Rain is forecasted to be around for a good portion of the day and when it is not raining it will be cloudy. The temperature will be in the upper 70s and it will be humid.

2. Sports: Endicott College is currently working through its “20 in 20” – “reliving the 20 greatest moments in Endicott athletic history” during the school’s first 20 years of varsity athletics. The moments, in no specific order, are available on the Endicott website and Facebook page. On Sunday, for example, it highlighted the successful 2006 season for the women’s soccer team that went 19-4-1 record, had two NCAA tournament wins and a its fourth consecutive conference title.

4. Whitfield: Beverly native Barrence Whitfield, who rocked Cabot Street earlier this summer for the city’s first-ever block party, has a new album out on Tuesday. Barrence Whitfield & The Savages release “Dig Thy Savage Soul” is described as “a wealth of atomic-powered, sock-it-to-me R&B and rock & roll hoodoo.”
