Child Struck While Bicycling to Elementary School

A young girl on her bicycle had to be taken to the hospital with arm and leg injuries after a Thursday morning crash near Hannah Elementary School.

A child was taken by ambulance to the hospital Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle to school.

The crash happened at about 7:35 a.m. on Thursday near the entrance to Hannah Elementary School off Brimbal Aveue.

A 9-year-old girl riding her bicycle was struck by a vehicle pulling out of the Hannah School. The driver did not see the child on her bike in the crosswalk, according to Officer Michael Boccuzzi, a Beverly Police Department spokesman.

The driver, who was not identified, was issued a crosswalk violation, Boccuzzi said.

The girl was taken to Beverly Hospital in an ambulance with arm and leg injuries, but was expected to be OK.
