5 Things To Know, June 18: Exit 18 Ramp Closed on Tuesday

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily source for community events, happenings in the city and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Tuesday, June 18.

1. Cooler: After a scorching Monday, things are forecasted to cool off a bit on Tuesday with temperatures about 10-15 degrees cooler. There is again a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm.

2. Exit 18: Old Essex Road, which is also the Route 128 northbound off and on ramp for exit 18, will be closed on Tuesday. The paving job that started a few weeks ago when the pavement was stripped off the road will be finished on Tuesday when the new layer of road surface is put down.

3. Education: The free education program organized by the Beverly Chamber of Commerce, originally planned for Tuesday morning at Endicott College, will not happen because of low enrollment.

4. Tolls: The state Department of Transportation is coming to our neckof the woods on Tuesday to explain its plan to convert the Tobin Bridge tolls to a completely cashless system next year. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Salem City Hall on Washington Street in downtown Salem.

5. Digital Media: There will be a digital media conference just over the town line into Danvers at the Danversport Yacht Club on Tuesday.
