Hot: Friday will be a sunny and hot day. The forecast is for temperatures well into the 80s with a chance of hitting 90 degrees. 2. ArtsFest: The annual downtown festival ArtsFest is only about two weeks away, and Friday marks the original deadline to let organizers know if you want to have a booth at the event. State, US Legislators to Hold Joint Office Hours in Beverly

Staff from four elected officials, both state and US, will be at State Rep. Jared Barisella's office hours in Beverly on Friday.

Joint office hours are being held for four elected officials in Beverly on Friday. Staff from the offices of State Senator Elizabeth Warren, US Congressman John Tierney, State Rep. Jerald Parisella, D-Beverly, and State Senator Joan Lovely, D-Salem, will also be meeting at the Beverly Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, May 31. "Constituents will have the opportunity to discuss concerns they have on federal and state issues. Staff from Sen. Warren’s and Rep. Tierney’s offices will be available to assist residents with issues pending before a federal agency," read a press release.  Appointments are not necessary.  The Beverly Senior Center is located at 90 Colon Street, Beverly.

Tierney Votes 'Yes' on Fiscal Cliff Deal

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Senate's "fiscal cliff" deal Tuesday night, averting a potential calamity for many taxpayers and setting new tax rates for some. Highlights of the agreement include: “President Obama and the Senate came to an agreement on a deal to prevent the country from going over the fiscal cliff," Congressman John Tierney wrote in a statement Wednesday morning. The battle for the 6th District seat is over.

Congressman John Tierney has defeated Republican challenger Richard Tisei in an extremely tight race for Massachusetts 6th District congressional seat. This has been an unusually high-profile congressional race in Massachusetts, which is considered a stronghold for House Democrats. Tierney suffered from the impact of a family scandal involving his wife, her brother and her brother’s illegal offshore gambling business. Tisei, on the other hand, climbed to popularity with his aggressive campaign, his theme of bipartisanship and his years of serving in the state legislature.
