Panthers to Face Gloucester Friday in New Super Bowl Playoff Format

The Beverly Panthers will enter the newly formatted football postseason on Friday night in Gloucester.

The defending Division 2A Super Bowl champion Beverly Panthers are returning to the postseason on Friday night in a completely revamped postseason format.

The Panthers will travel to Gloucester High School to take on the Fishermen at 7 p.m. under the lights at Newell Stadium on Friday night.

At the No. 5 seed, the Panthers will play No. 4 seed Gloucester (5-2) in the newly formed Division 3 Northeast. Beverly (4-3) was first team to qualify using the power rankings.

The winner of the game will take on the winner of the Tewksbury versus Somerville game happening on Saturday afternoon.
