Donna Kelleher, President and CEO of Next Generation Children’s Centers, has been named the 2013 Business Leader of the Year by the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce.

Next Generation Children’s Center is celebrating its 20th year and employs more than 600 individuals in 10 schools, including a location on Essex Street in the Montserrat neighborhood of Beverly.

"I opened the first Next Generation Children’s Center in Natick, Massachusetts back in 1993 after searching–and not finding–a suitable daycare solution for my first grandchild," wrote Kelleher on NGCC's website. "That search made me realize there was a tremendous need for quality childcare for working parents. I am proud of the 10 locations we currently have across eastern Massachusetts. Our growth over the years is due in large part to our unwavering commitment to provide parents and their children with the highest possible care and educational experience."

In addition to leading Next Generation, Kelleher has served as past chairwoman of the Framingham-based MetroWest Chamber of Commerce's board and is current chairwoman of the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Massachusetts in Marlborough.

The Sudbury resident also sits on the Board of the Partnership for a Skilled Workforce and is the former treasurer of the Sudbury Early Childhood Council.
