St. John's Prep Expansion OK'd
The school agreed to spend $47,000 for a light at Summer and Maple streets and $13,000 to stripe the eastbound lane of Route 62 as well as make improvements in the area for cars to turn onto Nichols Street more easily.
The Danvers Planning Board approved St. John’s Prep’s plan to add a middle school and build a 73,875 gross square foot Science, Technology, Engineering and Math building.
The board unanimously supported the plan on Tuesday after St. John’s Prep agreed to spend $47,000 for a light at Summer and Maple streets and $13,000 to stripe the eastbound lane of Route 62 as well as make improvements in the area for cars to turn onto Nichols Street more easily, reported the Salem News.
The school also plans to make traffic improvements on campus, such as changing traffic flow in parking lots and drop-off areas and creating a curb cut on Summer Street for the middle school buses.

The middle school (Grades 6-8) will be located in the existing Brother Benjamin Hall. St. John’s Prep hopes to open the middle school in September 2015. The middle school is expected to bring about 300 students to the 1,150 high school student body.
