New Middle School Committee Seeks Members

Beverly residents with expertise in engineering, construction, architecture or mechanical and electrical systems are specifically being sought for a new committee, which will meet monthly for several years.

If you want to volunteer your expertise and become involved in the construction of the city’s new middle school, now is the time to step up.

City officials have issued a call-out for members of the School Building Committee for the project, which is expected to be built at the current site of the Memorial building on Cabot Street.

Specifically, anyone with engineering, construction, architecture or mechanical and electrical systems expertise is being sought.

Formation of the committee is part of the process by the Massachusetts School Building Authority as city officials work to secure a portion of the school’s cost from the state agency. Mayor Bill Scanlon has said he expects at least half the cost of the project to be funded by the MSBA.

Once formed, the committee is expected to meet monthly for several years.
