TELL US: What Should Tisei Do Next?

He narrowly lost the congressional race. What do you think his next move should be?

Former State Sen. Minority Leader Richard Tisei was seen to have a fighting chance -- and to some, a likely victory -- in the 2012 race for the 6th District congressional seat.

But after the votes were counted, Tisei fell short and lost that race to incumbent Democratic Congressman John Tierney. Tisei did, however, win North Andover handily and amassed a wave of energized support across the district along the way.

Tisei has decades of experience in politics, having served in the Massachusetts legislature for more than 25 years and serving as Senate minority leader before leaving his seat to run as Charlie Baker's gubernatorial running mate in 2010. The Baker/Tisei ticket failed to defeat incumbent Gov. Deval Patrick, but Tisei took the energy from that campaign and kept it going to run for Congress.

What do you think Tisei's next step should be? Should he run for office again? Maybe run for governor in 2014 or for senator against Sen. John Kerry in 2014? Or would you rather see him on a non-electoral path? Discuss in the comments below.

He should perhaps take lessons in how to run a less negative and nasty campaign. Campaign next time on the issues and less on trashing the other candidate.

he should request a recount. also he should become a democrate. Republicans are becoming dinasaurs in our state. They are stuck in the pre-1920's.

Democrats are too far to the left, and Republicans are too far to the right. We need a party that primarily is focused on economic prosperity, fiscal responsibility, keeping safety nets for the poor but eliminating the fraud, and moderation on social issues. There needs to be a viable independent party and people like Tisei and Scott Brown could spearhead that cause.

I think Richard should fight for ethics in politics and try to enact some laws regulating length of terms and an oversight committee. There needs to be some non partisan oversight and regulations, looking over the shoulders of all politicians, Congress, Senate and so on. We need someone to look over their shoulders all of the time. The new media never did their job on Benghazi nor on General Petraeus.
