Newest Brimbal Design to be Focus of Thursday Night Meeting
A community meeting on Thursday night with Mayor Mike Cahill and other public officials will focus on the latest design for the Brimbal Avenue connector road.
The public will have a chance on Thursday evening to see the latest design for a new connector road between Brimbal Avenue and Sohier Road during a community meeting.
The city of Beverly has been awarded $5 million in grant money to make improvements to the area, which is near exit 19 from Route 128.
The meeting is planned for Thursday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m.at the Council on Aging/Senior Center on Colon Street, according to an announcement on the city website.
On hand at the meeting will be Mayor Mike Cahill, plus officials from MassDOT and Jacobs Engineering to present and discuss the current design for the new connector road between Brimbal Avenue and Sohier Road.
In February, voters were asked to decide on a zoning change in the area that would allow a land swap with neighboring property owner CEA Group that would have moved the existing connector road away from Route 128 and closer to Route 128.
While voters approved a rezoning that would have allowed the swap, and allowed CEA Group to move ahead with plans for a shopping plaza on its land, administrators at MassDOT later ruled that the new road plans would not work because it would go across a former landfill where the ground was unstable.
