Police Investigating Attempted Robbery at Dunkin' Donuts

Suspect, who remains at large, threatened having a knife and told patrons to get on the ground.

Beverly Police are investigating an armed robbery attempt at Dunkin' Donuts on Cabot Street Monday night.

Police spokesman Mike Boccuzzi said officers responded Dunkin' Donuts at 188 Cabot St., located next door to Ariston Pizza, and across the street from City Hall and the police department, at 6:50 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers were told a white male mid 20’s, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing a black jacket with red stripes down the length of the sleeves, green stocking cap, sunglasses, dark jeans, purple gloves, and carrying a black bag
walked into the store threw a bag at the clerk and said 'fill it,'" Boccuzzi said in a release.

The suspect threatened having a knife, but one was never produced, and also told patrons of the store to get on the ground prior to approaching the clerk.

According to the police report, the clerk looked at the suspect, then walked out back and called police.

At that time the suspect grabbed the bag back, ran out of the store, and up Broadway. No money was taken from the business.

The Beverly Police Department asks that if anyone has information in regards to this incident, that they please call the police station at (978) 922-1212, or submit a tip online at www.beverlypd.org/webtips.html or through the Beverly Police MyPD smartphone app.
