Officer Praised for Talking Woman Out of Jumping

A Beverly police officer helped convince a woman from jumping off the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

A Beverly police officer has been lauded for his efforts earlier this week to coax a distraught woman from jumping from the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

It happened on Monday at about noon when Officer Eric Schultz was called to the bridge to assist Salem police, according to police spokesman Officer Michael Boccuzzi.

Schultz was able to talk a woman intent on jumping off the bridge to reconsider, according to a post to the department’s official Facebook page.
