North Shore Train Service 'Severely Delayed' After Person Struck

A person was reportedly struck by a MBTA commuter train along the North Shore line south of Beverly, causing significant delays on Thursday evening.

MBTA trains headed to and from Beverly Depot and other city train stations will be “severely delayed” on Thursday evening after a person was reportedly struck by a train along the line.

Train passengers report they were told a person was struck in an area south of River Works in Lynn. Reports vary as to whether it occurred in Chelsea, Lynn or Revere.

The MBTA issued its first alert about the delays at 6:04 p.m. and later updated it at 6:19 p.m. to say that commuter rail service would be "severe delayed."

Passengers on the trains report that it was an inbound train that struck a person but that outbound trains are also stopped.
