Man Robs Beverly Walgreens With Hypodermic Needle

The Beverly Walgreens was robbed early Thursday morning by a man armed with a hypodermic needle.

Beverly detectives are looking for a man who allegedly threatened to stab a local Walgreens cashier with a hypodermic needle if she didn't hand over the money early Thursday morning.

At 12:11 a.m., Beverly police officers responded to a reported robbery at the Walgreens Pharmacy at 54 Elliot St.

A cashier at the store told police a man armed with a hypodermic needle forced her to open the cash drawer and then told her he "didn't want to hurt anyone and that drugs were making him do it," Det. Lt. Timothy Hegarty said.

Hegarty said the suspect fled the area toward Chase Street.
