Loud 'Boom' Tracked Back to Teen with Fireworks

Several loud "booms" shook a Beverly neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.

Several loud “booms” that shook a Beverly neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon are being blamed on a teenager allegedly throwing fireworks in yards.

Beverly police got calls reporting the noises at about 1 p.m., from the area of Story and Henderson avenues.

Some readers contacted Beverly Patch wondering about the noises, which were described as loud “booms.” One person said it shook their whole house and another said it sounded ”like a construction crew was blasting.”

Police caught up with a 17-year-old who was throwing fireworks in people’s yards, according to Officer Mike Boccuzzi, a police spokesman. The Shirley resident was issued a summons to appear in court to answer charges of possession of an infernal machine and disturbing the peace.
