Arrest for Weapons; Mom Turns in Drugs; Man Threatens Staff

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department's log:
Tuesday, April 8
At 5:24 p.m., police responded to suspicious motor vehicle activity-a car circled the block on Lovett and Bartlett Streets
At 6:07 p.m., Police responded to a child who fell off a scooter on Andover Road
At 6:36 p.m., Police responded to reports that a man pulled onto a sidewalk and was yelling on his cell phone prior police's arrival. The man said he was in a motor vehicle accident earlier and was waiting for AAA.
At 11:34 p.m. Police received harassing phone calls to the station
Wednesday, April 9
At 1:51 a.m., a resident on Rantoul Street called to report a possible break-in in progress. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area, and there was nothing suspicious on arrival. Officers also spoke with the staff at the Spotlight Tavern, who also noticed nothing unusual.
At 2:22 a.m., police responded to a report of vandalism to a vehicle on Hale Street
At 5:11 a.m., police responded to a report of someone walking around with a flashlight in the area of the business at 29 River St. Police conducted a thorough search and the party was GOA. The building appeared secure.
At 6:43 a.m., police reported of a "Spanish woman making harassing phone calls" to the officers
At 7:21 a.m., police responded to a call from Middle Street, where four tires were stolen from a motor vehicle
At 7:42 a.m., police responded to a mother who turned over drugs for destruction
At 9:06 a.m., police responded to Cabot Street, where two teens were threatening one another
At 10:20 a.m., police attempted to serve a warrant to a resident, who took off on his bike
At 10:45 a.m., police responded to an MV accident on Dodge Street
At 11:19 a.m., police issued a citation for an unregistered vehicle on Essex Street, and the vehicle was towed
At 2:14 p.m., a business on Rantoul Street contacted police to report that a man was threatening staff.
At 3:55 p.m., a resident from Cabot Street calls to report that his/her car was keyed last week
At 5:33 p.m., police responded to reports of kids on the roof at 28 Tozer Road
At 6:11 p.m., a resident from Harris Street called to report identify theft
At 8:48 p.m., police responded to reports of loud music on Courtney Drive
Thursday, April 10
At 1:52 a.m., police received calls about a red cadillac possibly involved in MVA in the area of Ashland and Home streets
At 8:33 a.m., police responded to reports of a man looking into parked cars on Wallis Street
At 8:49 a.m., police responded to theft of Comcast Services
At 9:29 a.m., residents called to report needles abandoned on the sidewalk at Jordan Street and Snell Road
At 10:33 a.m., police responded to video surveillance of kids loitering in the parking lot on Sam Fonzo Drive. Footage appeared to show them drinking alcohol
At 12:16 p.m., police responded to a vehicle hit and run at 191 Cabot St.
At 12:51 p.m., police removed a hypodermic needle from the ground on Balch Street
At 2:15 p.m., police stood by at the library while staff spoke with a man about his recent behavior. The man was cooperative and understood library rules
At 2:52 p.m., police removed a needle on the ground on Rantoul Street
At 3:33 p.m., police responded to a domestic situation on Cabot Street
At 5:51 p.m., police arrested James M. Merrill, 19, 40 Main St., North Reading, on charges of possession of knives and weapons
