"Why am I running?  It's simple.  I believe this is a really big election for our city and I believe I have the experience we need on the City Council as we enter a new era in Beverly."  St. Hilaire said.  "We have a lot of big projects in the pipeline and with Mayor Scanlon retiring this is a critical time.  We need to elect strong City Councilors who have the experience to help our new Mayor move Beverly forward."

The event was geared toward Ryal Side residents who will be going to the polls in 12 days to vote in the Preliminary Election.  Longtime Councilor Maureen Troubetaris announced earlier this year that she will be retiring from the Council and there are five candidates vying to replace her.  The field of five will be narrowed to two candidates after the September 24th Preliminary Election.

In addition to the candidates for Ward 1 Council, candidates for City Council At-Large and Mayor were invited to meet attendees and speak at the event.

St. Hilaire, 36, grew up in Beverly and attended Beverly public schools including Beverly High School where he graduated in 1995.  He is married to a Beverly native, Elizabeth (Dunn) St. Hilaire and together they have three young children.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Villanova University and while in college he worked as an intern on Paul Cellucci's successful campaign for Governor in 1998.  After graduating he served in the Governor's Office at the State House and has also held leadership positions with a number of high profile political campaigns.  He is currently employed as a Recruiter and Social Media Manager in the private sector.

"I am proud of my track record of fighting for candidates like Charlie Baker, Scott Brown and Richard Tisei."  St. Hilaire said.  "Win or lose, I've gained valuable experience about how government works and the political process that I will take with me to City Hall and will allow me to help get things done for Beverly."
