Chowder and Beer Put Massachusetts Food Near the Top

The food from each state in the country, ranked from best to worst, put Massachusetts near the top, citing its chowder, seafood and breweries.

Does Maine and New York really have better food than Massachusetts?

The answer is yes, according to a recent ranking of the best foods available in each state by Thrillist.

The website took into consideration the food produced in each state; the iconic items each state is know for; the beer, wine and spirits production and the food and drink scene in the cities.

Massachusetts ended up at No. 13.

In New England, only Maine bested Massachusetts at No. 10. New York was No. 3 and California was No. 1.

The list noted the Bay State’s chowder, Boston cream pie, seafood and breweries as the high points of the state’s food.

And on the other end of the spectrum, they recognized the “general distaste for the fake, gross, official signature dish, baked beans, which we respect.”
