The family of Dillon Renard, a teen from Danvers killed in an alleged drunk driving accident in Salem, will host a scholarship fundraiser in his honor at the Beverly Italian Community Center, Friday night.
The fundraiser, 'Dream for Dillon' will benefit the teen's scholarship fund, which will be awarded to a 2012 Salem High graduate who receives special education services.
"Dillon's family has set up this scholarship fund in his memory so we can assist others fulfill a dream that Dillon never had a chance to see come true," the scholarship fund website said.
Renard was killed on June 16, 2012, after the vehicle he was a passenger in hit a tow truck on Boston Street in Salem. The driver, 25-year-old Angelique Griffin, faces charges of vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.
Renard's family filed a wrongful death suit in July.
The 'Dream for Dillon' fundraiser will be held from 7-11:55 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9. Donations are being accepted for a silent auction.
