Longtime Beverly Volunteer Honored As Senior Of The Year

Linda Anderson-Mercier was awarded Thursday with Senior of the Year honors during the annual Senior Day as part of Homecoming at Lynch Park.

Anderson-Mercier is president of the River House homeless shelter and has served in many other volunteer capacities since moving to Beverly from Michigan at age 18.

She was nominated for the award by three seniors who come to the Senior Center every day, said Council on Aging Director Mary Ann Holak.

Anderson-Mercier said she was surprised by the honor, which was handed out in the park's concert shell in front of hundreds of Beverly senior citizens.
