Snow-fighting behemoth added to Cummings Center fleet
Heavy snowfall calls for a heavy-duty clean-up effort. For Cummings Center and its nearly 80-acre campus, that means deploying its 18-member “Snow Team” with plows, snow blowers, and shovels.
Pictured here is the firm’s newest vehicle, a 1983 Norland rotary snow blower. For more than 20 years, this massive machine cleared runways at Maine’s Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport. With two 360-horsepower Detroit diesel engines and huge circular blades, it is capable of moving mountains of snow in a short time.
