Report: Developer Looking to Move Forward With Brimbal Avenue Plaza

The Salem News is reporting that CEA Group is looking to apply for a special permit to build a retail center off of Brimbal Avenue.

Although the state's Department of Transportation recently rejected a proposal to build a new road through a former city landfill on Brimbal Avenue, a developer looking to erect a shopping plaza on a parcel nearby is moving forward, The Salem News reported Thursday.

According to the Salem News article, CEA Group Inc. President Steven Cohen recently spoke with Mayor Mike Cahill about filing a request with the Planning Board for a special permit to construct a retail center off of Brimbal Avenue.

The state shot down the original proposal on May 5 after it was determined that the earth on the former landfill site was incapable of supporting the planned connector road.
