Summertime 1980s Movie Series Arrives at Library

A new summertime movie series at Beverly Public Library starting Thursday features popular movies from the 1980s.

The 1980s have returned to Beverly Public Library this summer as part of a new free movie series.

This four week series starts Thursdays and runs through Aug. 14.

Unlike many summertime events at the library, it is designed for an adult audience. The series is free and no registration is required.

The movies start at 7 p.m. in the Sohier Room on the lower level of the library. The room is handicapped accessible.

The movie lineup doesn't give away the exact name of the movies, but instead gives description that are easy to guess for many movie fans. The library's public performance licensing agreement doesn't allow then to say the exact title.

This week, for example, the library will be showing a movie about "Pee-wee Herman on a cross-country adventure to find his beloved bicycle." Next week, the movie will be about a recently deceased couple that discovers they must haunt their former home they call upon a freelancer from the afterlife who is more trouble than they bargained for.

This story has been updated and corrected to show that the movie series starts on Thursday, July 24.
