1. 'SOUND OF MUSIC'

Where/When: North Shore Music Theatre; Friday, 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 8 p.m.

Why Go: It's the final weekend of shows for the opening production of the 2013 season at the Music Theater. The Sound ogf Msuic wraps up its run on Sunday.

Pricing: $45 to $75

2. ECTA CHEBACCO WOODS TRAIL WALK

Where/When: Chebacco Woods; Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: One of the impressive trail networks here on the North Shore will be the focus of a trail walk on Saturday morning. Sue McLaughlin, the trail steward for Essex County Trail Association, wil lead the walk, which starts from the Chebacco Road trailhead.

Pricing: Free

3. FAMILY FUN DAY WITH THE GIVING HOPE FOUNDATION

Where/When: St. John the Baptist School, Peabody; Saturday, noon - 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Giving Hope Foundation is holding its 2nd Annual Family Fun Day Saturday over in the gym at St. John's. The event includes all sorts of games and activities (carnival games, Cornhole, temporary tatoos, etc), and food. All proceeds benefit leukemia research at Children's Hospital Boston. You can purchase tickets here.

Pricing: $14 for ages 12 and up, $7 for ages 4-11 and kids three and under get in for free

4. TOUCH-A-TRUCK, FISHING DERBY, DANVERS FAMILY FESTIVAL IN FULL SWING

Where/When: Various spots around Danvers; Saturday and Sunday

Why Go: There are all sorts of activities going on this weekend as part of the Danvers Family Festival, from a strawberry festival to the touch-a-truck and a fishing derby. You can find more details here on which specific events.

5. GUIDED KAYAK TOURS OF THE CRANE WILDLIFE REFUGE

Where/When: Crane Beach, 290 Argilla Road, Ipswich; Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Guided kayak tours of the Crane Wildlife Refuge got started for the summer last weekend. The tours include kayak rental and a two-hour tour of the salt marshes and tidal creeks in the area.

Pricing: $40 for Trustees of the Reservations members, $50 for nonmembers.
