Angie 'Clear Crowd Favorite' With Hometown Support

Beverly native Angie Miller was the "clear crowd favorite" as the top 11 contestants from American Idol season 12 stopped in Boston for its concert tour this week.

Angie Miller of Beverly was the "clear crowd favorite" Monday night during the American Idol Live! concert at Agganis Arena in Boston.

The Boston Globe reports that Miller started the second act sitting atop a grand piano before playing it while singing her original song  “You Set Me Free.”

"The arena seemed packed with partisans and Beverly High School graduates," the Globe said. Beverly resident Karen Wonoski told Patch that the aren was filled with Miller supporters, wearing black and orange "Team Angie" T-shirts.

Miller is a 2012 Beverly High School graduate who finished third on season 12 of the show this spring.

In general, though, the Globe review noted that there were lots of empty seats at the concert and that "production values felt perfunctory."
