What to Know About Beverly Homecoming on Thursday
Here's a look at Beverly Homecoming 2013. Check for this daily feature here on Beverly Patch through the end of Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 11.
Thursday marks the unofficial start of Beverly Homecoming in 2013.
The only event on the calendar for Thursday is the Beverly Yankee Homecoming 5K at Lynch Park.
The 46th annual 5K race starts at 6:30 p.m. with a kids fun run at 5:30 p.m.
Registration is $26 for ages 14 and up and $10 for under 14 on race day.
The race is sponsored by the Greater Beverly YMCA and part of the North Shore Race Series.
The top three males and females will receive prizes, plus a special award for the top female and male from Beverly.
Officially, Homecoming starts on Friday with the annual softball challenge between Beverly and Salem firefighters at Innocenti Park. The weekend has a full calendar, with Airport Day during the day and "The Block" bock party in the evening. Sunday is Tiny Tots Day at Lynch Park and the Hospital Point lighthouse will be open for tours, among many other activities.
