Hail and Damaging Winds Part of Storm Headed East

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the North Shore and Merrimack Valley.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds over 60 miles per hour is headed east in the area north of Boston on Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

At 5:39 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning for was issued for northeastern Middlesex county and central Essex county which runs until 6:30 p.m.

Some of the communities in the warning area include Andover, Beverly, Burlington, Danvers, Lynnfield, North Andover, North Reading Reading, Tewksbury, Wilmington and Woburn.

The storm was over Tewksbury at 5:40 p.m. and headed northeast at 30 mph.

The storm is capable of produce damaging winds and large hail and forecasters recommend you go indoors and stay away from windows. Drivers should be prepared for low visibility and should avoid flooded roads.
