5 Things to Know, July 10: Bid Deadline to Buy Shuttered Gas Station

A great way to start the day with a quick look at the events and happenings in the city.

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily source for community events, happenings in the city and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Wednesday, July 10.

1. 80s: The temperature should return to the 80s on Wednesday, with a mix of sun and clouds in the sky and humid air. There’s again a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the late morning and through the afternoon. If we get one of these storms, it could rain real hard for a short period of time.

2. Gas Station: The former Getty and BP gas station on Cabot Street at Kittredge Crossing is being sold, and the deadline to submit bids is Wednesday. The minimum bid is $150,000.

3. Tennis: The World Team Tennis season is in high gear, including almost a nightly match for the North Shore’s entry in the professional league – the Boston Lobsters. The team plays at Manchester Athletic Club, just up Route 128 at exit 15 in Manchester-by-the-Sea. On Tuesday night, the match in Washington was broadcast nationally on the Tennis network and on Wednesday evening the home match against New York Sportimes will be Community Appreciation Night.

4. Misselwood: The spectacular oceanfront setting of Misselwood at Endicott College will be the setting for an “After Hours” networking session hosted by the North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau on Wednesday evening. Members of the regional organization will combine with the Salem and Beverly Chambers of Commerce at the event from 5-7 p.m.
