5 Things to Know, July 1: It's Monday, so it's Farmers Market Time

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily source for community events, happenings in the city and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Monday, July 1. 

1. Clouds: Monday will be a cloudy day, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms later in the day. Temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 degrees.

2. Farmers Market: The Beverly Farmers Market returns on Monday from 3-7 p.m. on Railroad Avenue and Park Street, near Beverly Depot and Veterans Memorial Park.

3. Movies: Again this week you can see a recent hit on the big screen for just a few bucks to benefit a good cause. For $3, you can see “Django Unchained” at 10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the AMC Loews theater at Liberty Tree Mall.

4. Loans: The interest rate for student loans is scheduled to double, starting on Monday. The interest rate on Stafford loans will go to 6.8 percent on Monday, after an agreement could not be reached by the Senate.

5. Healey: Monday marks the first day Beverly’s Kerry Healey will officially be on the job as the new president at Babson University. Healey, the former lieutenant governor, was named the college’s first female president in March.
