Flaherty and Dullea endorse Murphy

Beverly, MA -- July 26, 2013 -- Attorney Todd C. Murphy, candidate for City Councilor At-Large, officially launched his campaign last night at a kick-off party at Beverly's Italian Community Center."I was overwhelmed by the incredible support of the people of Beverly," said Murphy. "Last night's turnout was phenomenal and I was thrilled to have the chance to meet voters and discuss issues most important to the November election."At the party, Murphy was introduced by former City Council President Tim Flaherty."Todd has displayed strong leadership skills since I coached him in freshman football," said Flaherty. "He is a Beverly guy with strong Beverly roots, I have watched him grow professionally, and he has all the skills and ability necessary to be a citywide leader. Todd Murphy is my choice for City Councilor At-Large."Murphy then addressed the crowd, highlighting his background and his top issues including education, a new middle school, upgrades in roads, and smart development to help fund the city's capital projects. "Beverly has made incredible strides over the past two decades and I look forward to helping our city continue to move forward in all aspects," he said. "I am truly invested in our city and want to be part of shaping its future for generations to come." Current City Councilor Scott Dullea who was unable to attend said he supports Murphy's bid for Councilor At-Large."I know Todd personally and professionally and deeply respect him on both levels," said Dullea. "He is the right choice for Beverly in this time of transition. I fully endorse Todd Murphy for City Councilor At-Large."Guests at the kick-off party enjoyed food provided by Luigi's Pizzeria on Rantoul Street and listened to the music of local band Playing for Crickets. Murphy, a 1993 graduate of Beverly High School, grew up in the heart of the city's downtown and now lives in North Beverly. He is a partner at Callahan Dewan & Murphy on Rantoul Street, where he focuses on criminal defense law. In addition to his defense work, he practices family law and other civil litigation. 
Murphy is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he spent seven years as a special education teacher. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tufts University and a Master of Education Degree in Special Education from Salem State College. 
The father of two young daughters, Murphy was recently appointed to the Beverly Children's Learning Center Board of Directors.
