Scott Brown (R), Elizabeth Warren (D): U.S. Senate

Scott Brown has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate since a January 2010 special election held to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy. Brown defeated state Attorney General Martha Coakley with 1,168,107 votes, or 51.9 percent, to her 1,058,682 votes, or 47.1 percent. He faces Elizabeth Warren, an American bankruptcy law expert and Harvard Law School professor. 

John Tierney (D), Richard Tisei (R), Daniel Fishman (L): 6th Congressional District

John Tierney (D-Salem) has been the Congressman representing Beverly since 1997. He faces off against Richard Tisei, a Republican former state Senator from Wakefield and local business owner and Libertarian candidate Daniel Fishman, of Beverly. 

Joan Lovely (D), Richard Jolitz (R), : Mass. Senate, 2nd Essex District

Salem City Councillor Joan Lovely will face Beverly Republican Richard Jolitz for former State Senator Fred Berry's seat. Berry represented the 2nd Essex District for 30 years before retiring this year.

Beverly Updates From The Polls

• 5:45 p.m. Beverly Public Library Ward 2 Precinct 1 had a line out the door as voters were getting home from work. As of 5:30 p.m., Ward 2 Precinct 1 had seen 1230 voters, and Ward 2 Precinct 2 had seen 1149 voters.

• 2:35 p.m.North Beverly Elementary had a steady crowd of voters rolling through this afternoon. Poll volunteer Sheila described the day so far as 'busy, busy, busy.' Ward 5 Precinct 1 had seen 1118 voters as of 2:35 p.m.; Ward 5 Precinct 2 was up to 991. 

• 2:15 p.m. Beverly Police Lt. Michael Sungy told Beverly Patch the turnout at Centerville Elementary was the busiest he's seen. "We were slammed the first hour," he said, noting that residents were lined up at the door by 6:30 a.m. At 2:15 p.m., Ward 6 Precinct 1 had seen 1199 voters; Ward 6 Precinct 2 had seen 1108. 

• 1:55 p.m. During the State Primary in September, Tastebuds owner Jan Pellegrini was the lone signholder at each of the six polling locations. Jan was back today at Cove Elementary School campaigning for Eileen Duff for Governor's Council. Jan said the turnout was very busy, especially in comparison to the primary. She did note, however, that she hadn't seen many young people at the polls. As of 1:55 p.m., Ward 4 Precinct 1 had seen 667 voters; Ward 4 Precinct 2 was at 1180. 

• 12:50 p.m. Ward 3 (McKeown School): Catherine Barrett from the Hannah Elementary PTO said the line was out the door during the morning and 'the voters wanted coffee!' She said the robust turnout resulted in great sales at their bake sale, noting that by lunchtime, almost all of the treats were gone. Ward 3 Precinct 1 had seen 619 voters at 12:50; Ward 3 Precinct 2 was up to 848.

• 12:05 p.m. Ward 2 (Beverly Public Library) had a steady amount of voters rolling through at noon. As of 12:05 p.m., Ward 2 Precinct 1 had 634 votes (including your Patch editor!), and Ward 2 Precinct 2 had 721. 

• 11:27 a.m. Ward 1 (Ayers Ryal Side) has been 'very busy,' election worker Bob Martino told Beverly Patch. Martino said voters were lined up at 6:30 a.m., and since then it's been at a steady pace. As of 11:27 a.m., Ward 1 Precinct 1 saw 679 voters, Ward 1 Precinct 2 had seen 723. 

• 8:30 a.m. Ward 2 Precinct 2 has seen 247 voters, Silva tweeted. "That's huge," he said. 

• Tuesday, 8 a.m. Councillor at Large Jason Silva tweets "Just tried to vote at #BeverlyMA Public Library, Ward 2. Line is about 10 feet out the door."

• Monday, 10:30 a.m. Beverly City Clerk Connolly told Beverly Patch the city had already received more than 1700 absentee ballots. She said it was more than she'd seen in previous years, leading her expect large voter turnouts at the polls on Tuesday.
